Abstract
Octadecyl methyl-acrylate was synthesized from octadecyl alcohol and MMA with p-methy benzene sulfonic acid as catalyst and hydroquinol as inhibitor.The conversion of product reached 90.2% under the optimal experiment condition: the molar ratio of MMA to octadecyl alcohol was 1.2,the amount of p-methy benzene sulfonic acid was 1.0%,the amount of hydroquinol was 0.7%,reaction temperature was 100℃ and reaction time was 5 h.The product was tested by IR after separated and sublimated.The product and complex product were evaluated.The results showed the synthetic product had a good performance of viscosity reduction,octadecyl methyl-acrylate and alcohol products had a better viscosity reduction capability.
