Abstract
Sodium octyl diphenyl ether disulfonate was synthesized using diphenyl ether,octyl alcohol and fuming sulfuric acid as main starting materials.From the experiment the optimal reaction conditions were found as:alkylation mole ratio n(octanol) ∶n(diphenyl ether)=1.00 ∶1.50,at 60 ℃ for 4 h,with yield 76.60%,sulfonation mole ratio n(octyl diphenyl ether) ∶n(fuming sulfuric acid)=1.0 ∶2.6,at 35 ℃ for 2 h;after neutralization,the final product yield is 61.60%,the product was characterized by analysis using IR and HPLC spectra.The critical micelle concentration(CMC) of the surfactants is 4.91×10-3 mol/L and the surface tension is 30.12 mN/m.
