Abstract
Abstract Using an adiabatic oxygen combustion static bomb calorimeter, the standard enthalpy of formation of 1,3-dimethylurea has been determined as −(312.1 ± 2.8) kJ mol −1 . Solution calorimetry and p K a measurements yield the standard enthalpy of formation of 1,3-dimethylurea nitrate and the enthalpy of protonation of aqueous 1,3-dimethylurea as −(540.7 ± 2.8) kJ mol −1 and +(1.56 ± 0.60) kJ mol −1 respectively.
