Abstract
Density, ρ, and viscosity, η, of binary mixtures of 2-methoxyethanol with methanol, ethanol, propan-1-ol, butan-1-ol, pentan-1-ol, hexan-1-ol, and heptane-1-ol are determined over the entire range of composition at 298.15, 308.15, and 318.15 K. The speed of sound, u, of the above binary mixtures has been measured at 298.15 K. The experimental values of densities, viscosities, and speeds of sound are used to calculate the excess molar volume V E, viscosity deviation Δη, excess isentropic compressibility , excess acoustic impedance Z E, and excess intermolecular free length . The viscosity data have been correlated by Grunberg and Nissan, Tamura–Kurata and Hind correlation equations. The V E, Δη, , Z E, and are fitted to the Redlich–Kister equations. The results are discussed in terms of molecular interactions and structural effects.
