Abstract
Trans-4-methylcyclohexylamine was found to inhibit pig spermidine synthase potently in assay conditions containing 50 μM of decarboxylated S-adenosylmethionine. It showed 50% inhibition at 1.7 μM compared to 8.1 μM for cyclohexylamine, and 2.5 μM for S-adenosyl-1, 8-diamino-3-thiooctane, known as the most potent inhibitor. The inhibition was competitive with putrescine, similar to cyclohexylamine, and the Ki was 40 nM.
