Abstract
Xenopus laevis embryos were used to study the effect of triiodo- l -thyronine (T 3 ) on amino acid transport. T 3 had very little effect on the transport of amino acids transported mostly by the Na + -independent L system, while the transport of amino acids transported mostly by the Na + -dependent A system was significantly inhibited on days 6 and 7 after fertilization (days 4 and 5 after the termination of hormone treatment). The d form of T 3 had no effect on the transport of A -system amino acids.
