Abstract
In the complex between trimethoprim, 5-[(3,4,5-trimethoxyphenyl)methyl]-2,4-pyrimidinediamine, TMP, and sulfametrole, 4-amino-N-(4-methoxy-1,2,5-thiadiazol-3-yl)benzenesulfonamide, SMTR, C 14 H 19 N 4 O 3 + .C 9 H 9 N 4 O 3 S 2 - , the proton participating in the hydrogen bond between the pyrimidine and sulfonamide N atoms [2.808 (3) A] is transferred from SMTR to TMP (NH + ...N - ). An N-H...O hydrogen bond [2.933 (4) A] is also established between the 2-aminopyrimidine group of TMP and an O atom of the sulfonamido group of SMTR. The bimolecular complex units are linked in the crystal through N-H...O hydrogen bonds [3.057 (3) A] between p-aminophenyl and sulfonamido groups
