Abstract
Abstract Trimethylsilyl trichloroacetate ( 1 ) is a convenient reagent for the silylation of phenols, carboxylic acids, mercaptans, amides, acetylenes, and β-keto esters, while the reaction of 1 with aldehydes and ketones affords silylated trichloromethyl carbinols ( 5 ).
