Abstract
Two compounds identified as taraxerone 1 and taraxerol 2 have been isolated from Ficus aurantiaca. There has been no previous report on the chemical constituents and biological activities of this plant. Compounds 1 and 2 were isolated from EA extract of the stem of F. aurantiaca. The structures were evaluated based on spectroscopic methods including nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), UV, IR and mass spectrometry and comparison with the published information in the literature. The 5-lipoxenase enzyme inhibition assay showed that compound 1 and 2 have 5-LOX inhibitory activity with IC 50 of 21.67 ± 6.52 (µg/mL) and 23.07 ± 7.30 (µg/mL) respectively. On the other hand compound 1 and 2 exhibited significant XOD inhibitory activity with IC 50 of 8.72±1.79 (µg/mL) and 12.87±5.10 (µg/mL) respectively.
