Abstract
Two compounds, tetracycline hydrochloride and 2,4-bis[N,N'-di(carbomethyl)-aminomethyl] fluorescein (DCAF), when administered intraperitoneally and 4 days apart to animals in the dosage of 25 mg/kg body weight will concentrate in mineralizing tissues and fluoresce in contrasting colors. The tissues are fixed in acetone, Soxhlet extracted with diethyl ether, embedded in Bioplastic, sectioned on a microsection saw, polished to 80-100 μ thickness, and viewed under a fluorescent microscope equipped with a Schott BG-12 exciter filter and a Schott GG-1 orange yellow barrier filter. Tetracycline fluoresces yellow; DCAF, green.
