Abstract
Resorcinol, resorcinol derivatives, and resorcinol resins can be used as monomers or as reactive additives which increase the molecular weight of a (pre-)polymer. This section deals with such applications. Indeed, there are several commercial uses, such as, e.g., the use of resorcinol di-(2-hydroxyethyl) ether in polyurethanes and polyesters, 3,4′-diaminodiphenyl ether in aramids, resorcinol diglycidyl ether in high-technology applications, and polyphenylene ethers as high-temperature lubricants. More details on these uses are given under the individual polymers.
