Abstract
Abstract Vinyl acetate-tetrafluoroethylene copolymerization is described; copolymers containing up to 20 per cent fluorine by weight have been synthetized and hydrolysed. Their structure is random as established by i.r. and X-ray analysis and by degradative oxidation. The variation of solubility with the composition of the copolymers is reported. The water resistance of the vinyl alcohol—tetrafluoroethylene copolymers is markedly better than that of unmodified polyvinyl alcohol, but a high water sensitivity is still retained.
