Abstract
Detection of phenol,2-methylphenol,3-methylphenol,4-methylphenol and 2,4-dichlorophenol was carried out by laboratory-built high-field asymmetric waveform ion mobility spectrometer(FAIMS).Separation of those compounds was enhanced by sweeping compensation voltage(CV) under different dispersion voltage(DV) values.Best separation result of 2-methylphenol and 4-methylphenol was obtained at high-field strength of 1.6 × 104 V/cm,optimum separation of remaining compounds was obtained at high-field strength larger than 1.8 × 104 V/cm.high-field mobility of those compounds was reported for the first time.Experiment results showed that the sensitivity was decreased and the resolution was usually increased by increasing highfield strength.When the high-field strength was set at 2.0 × 104 V/cm,the limit of detection for 2-methylphenol was 1 μg/L.
